Dalarna Guide & Kultur is an organization representing certified and authorized
tourist guides in Dalarna. In cooperation with national and international guide
organizations, DGK provides training, authorization and professional development to
guides working within the travel and hospitality industry in Dalarna. It also acts as a
partnership and networking agency, putting visitors in touch with the right guide
experience for them.

a private tour or for a larger group, we put you in touch with a local guide who will
make arrangements directly with you.

What is an authorized tour guide?

An authorized tour guide has completed and passed a guide training course
approved by Sweden’s national guide federation, SveGuide. SveGuide authorized
training in Dalarna is delivered by DGK, which means that all DGK guides are
authorized by SveGuide. A “Dala Guide” is competent to guide across the whole
county, but many guides have specialist knowledge of different regions or areas.
The SveGuide guide training course is extensive, combining international guide
techniques, customer service and safeguarding principles with in-depth local
knowledge. The course concludes with a practical demonstration of guiding skills and
knowledge to an examinations panel comprised of DGK guide educators, external
guide examiners and representatives from local tourist organizations. The default
authorized guide language is Swedish. Authorization to guide in other languages is
granted after a guiding event in that language has been approved by both the
authorization panel and additional native speakers.
